Is Coffee Good for Me? Is It Ok with Weight Loss?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: I drink alot of coffee, probably around 3-5 mugs a day. With my coffee I have 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 sweetener, I also have milk. Is this good or bad for me?

Also I am trying to lose weight and how will coffee affect this?

Answer: First answerer apparently hasn’t been reading the news. Coffee in moderation is VERY good for you. Caffeine is a stimulant and that increases your metabolism, which causes your weight loss to be maximized. Not a miracle drug, but look on any diet pill bottle just about and you will see caffeine as an ingredient. Also, just a few days ago, they completed a study that says coffee drinkers have much much less cancer than other people.

Weight Loss,exercise Help.?

What a great weight loss question:

Question: Okay,I do 45 mintues on the elliptical about 5-6 days a week.
I used to only be able do 20-30 mins.
I weigh 157 lbs I’m 5`1 (I would like to loose at least 20 lbs)
I take natural fat burner pills.
My point is,is my exercise enough?Should i be doing more.
It’s very hard for me to reach 45 mins, because I feel all dizzy and like I’m about to faint, but I also push myself because I feel like I should be doing 60 mins.
Keep in mind I’m a teenager.A very mature one and all,so I’m doing my best to become healthy and make a cnage for myself.
Any tips please.
I eat very healthy as well.
Answer: Actually, those pills are probably your problem. They’re usually full of crap (even if they’re natural) that will unnaturally boost your heart rate and give you the symptoms that you’re experiencing. Do NOT push through being dizzy and faint. You can seriously do damage to yourself.

DITCH THE PILLS, drink lots of water, and take it at a steady enough pace that you can do for at least 45 minutes.

Is Biking Good Exercise for Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: If I were to ride 3 miles with my bike would it be the same is if I walked 3 miles? Would I burn near the same calories/ or more?
Would it be the same as if I ran 3 miles?
All this with an appropriate diet of course.
And to me it seems that riding a bike would be better than walking but not as good as running, what do you think?
Thanks!
Answer: I’m a regular cyclist, today riding about 20km into the city & 20Km back home again, to do some window shipping.

Anyhow, it’s an enjoyable form of exercise, as well as being an economical type of transport. But, 3 miles usually does not equal 3 miles riding a bike (unless you are riding up a steep hill climb for the whole distance).

When cycling, you have the assistance of gravity/down hills, a variety of bike gears & the fact that more distance is gained from one spin of the pedals is more than 1 step whilst walking.
So, you’ll need to travel a longer distance when cycling, when compared to walking, to achieve the same calorie usage.

With running, the body requires more erergy than walking or cycling., for every minute of activity. It’s also higher impact, which is not always a good thing, especially if you have joint issues.

All that said, the main reason I ride a bike is because it makes me feel like a kid again.

WEIGHT LOSS HELP. PLEASE. 10 POINTS TO BEST ANSWER!!!?

What a great weight loss question:

Question: so im leaving for myrtle beach in 2 weeks and i would like to loose close to 20 pounds. can any one give me tips on what i would have to do for this to happen. i don’t want to go out and buy anything also keep in mind im only 15. thanks.
okay i get it 20 in 2 is to much but i said close to 20 like 10-15 ish.
Answer: Here are some tips that will help you reach your goal!
1. stock up on fruits and vegetables– those have very few calories and DO taste good!
2. Drink water instead of soda or juice.
3. Try to eat whole wheat and potatoes. Those will keep your hunger at bay and not make you crave foods. Oh! But if you DO find yourself craving foods, have a small portion of it, don’t try to avoid it completely, because the craving will only get stronger.
4. make sure to pay attention to portion sizes too. it helps if you portion it out into a bowl that way you don’t find your self eating too much at once. or even portion out your snacks a week in advance so you don’t over eat.
5. you should record what you eat in a journal. calculate the total number of calories you eat per day and determine if there is any junk you can cut out.
6. to lose weight you might want to eat around 1500-2000 calories per day. DO NOT EAT LESS THAN 1000 CALORIES PER DAY!!!!!! Eating less than 1000 calories can actually cause your body to gain weight.
7. Eating healthy low calorie meals with LOTS of exercise will help you lose weight! aerobic exercise such as running, swimming, biking, or gymnastics is a great way to loose weight as well!
8. Get motivated! If ever you find your self not wanting to get up and go exercise, tell your self to get up and do it. Motivate yourself by thinking about how good you will look/feel if you just get up and do it!
9. another motivational tip, once a week, take a day off and reward your self with something special like your favorite restaurant or something sweet like dessert!
10. Don’t be afraid to drink tea, unsweetened tea has 0 calories and is full of antioxidants that will actually help you lose weight. There are also sweeteners such as Truvia that contain 0 calories and are good to add to tea if you like it sweet! :D

REMEMBER: to lose weight you need to have a good diet AND exercise program having only one will not do you as much good as having both! :D

this is a very easy plan to follow! as long as you stick to it! and don’t give up! :D

Good Luck!

Does Anyone Know Any Good Weight Loss Programs?

Filed under: weight loss — Tags: — Tracy @ 7:03 am

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: i was wondering if anyone knew any weight loss programs that really work.
Answer: i’ve used the weight watchers online program and its the healthiest way to go, and trust me from experience stay away from diet pills whatever you do. This program is set up for your height weight ect and gives you so many points per day that you can have the great thing about it there’s no restriction on what you can eat but how much you can eat of each thing the lower the food points the more you can eat. It also keeps track of your daily exercise you should at least do something active 30 minutes a day to help burn calories. I’ve lost weight on this program and feel better then i have in a long time. Long story short eat healthier food and exercise there is no such thing as a quick fix its how bad do you want to lose weight and what are you willing to do to get there.

I'm Gonna Go Through This Teen Weight Loss Thing, HELP ME?!?!?!?

What a great weight loss question:

Question: I’m a guy that going into 8th grade next year and i have a plan to get a 7 month makeover. I’m obese, and i don’t exactly have a good looking face, but my problems on my face i can take care of, and i have a plan about the obesity, i will also get a better style. I’m planning to be finished with the makeover during winter break. Do you think i’ll get peoples attentions? How do you think the people in my school will react? I really wanna know! Also don’t write down answers like dont change yourself for someone else please :] I know that i will meet people because of my new look but then they will get to know me and my cute personality (not conceited). I know ill look really hot.

negative things are accepted if you really have to say it :] but keep it to a minimum.

Im gonna fix my teeth ,acne, shave, better style, and smell better, better hair etc. :)

Ok so im 14 years old, 236 lbs, 5′8, Obese. Im gonna start a 210 day weight loss plan that includes, classic p90x, 15 min weights, 10 in cardio, P.E(freakin difficult ugh), and walking a lot, not to mention having a good diet. I will also do lots of weight trainin!

another question: Estimate how long it will take to get to a body look this (Dont get too aroused): http://rebiya.com/gallery/taylor-lautner-shirt-off-wallpaper.jpg

Is it even remotely possible for an eight grade to have a body like that?

and another question: Do girls like it when a guy in middle school has a ripped body and muscle and isnt scrawny?like a body like taylor lautner instead of a medium scrawny guy?

BTW: I KNOW I WONT LOOK LIKE TAYLOR LAUTNER I JUST WANT TO HAVE A BODY LIKE HIS AND I WILL WORK HARD FOR IT PLUS HE WAS ONLY 16 WHEN HE GOT THAT BODY SO THATS LIKE A 2 YEAR DIFFERENCE AND I KNOW GUYS WHO ARE 14 AND HAVE A BODY LIKE HIS!

Oh um Wish me luck!!! and i’m not trying to say I’m gonna be hot and stuff i’m actually very congeal and the opposite of shallow i care for people and myself thats why i’m doing this: to boost my confidence so i can gain friendship :)

Answer: I’m really amazed about the fact that your going to be an 8th grader and you want to loose weight. I think that’s really amazing! I’m glad that you care =) I actually have a cousin in the same grade she’s over weight and it seems that she doesn’t care It be fantastic if she had different thinking like yours. But anyways…Of course your going to get peoples attention they’ll be really surprised with the big change!! they will all talk about you and notice you:D
I actually know of some products that can help you with your acne. You can use Aveeno (Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser) you can find it at Walmart etc. also you can use Atralin gel for the night I think its really good I’ve used it before, & if your face is oily and dry a little bit of both the Neutrogena (Oil-free moisture) would really help you. (Its a white bottle, and you can find it at Walmart also) Its a good thing that your going to smell better..people won’t get away from you lol
Im guessing it would take you a pretty long time to get to a Taylor Lautner body but you can do it! 1st i would try to focus more on loosing weight…then go for the taylor lautner body. It is possible for an 8th grader to have a body like that, but its a little bit gross girls don’t actually start paying attention to that sort of stuff until High School.
Girls in Junior High don’t know what they really want in a guy at that age, trust me..lol

Well i hope i answered all your questions and helped you on something!!=D
GOOD LUCK!! Don’t give up i know you’ll reach your goal ;)
I’d be more than glad to be kept up dated on your progress. =]

Question About Weight Loss?

A weight loss question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: Well multiple.

Do you have to physically sweat to get a workout to lose weight.
Will jumping jacks help you lose weight.
Whats better pull ups or push ups.
and can working out only 20 to 30 minutes a day help you lose weight, along with a healthy diet of course.
and can completely cutting out soda help you lose weight.

Answer: Loosing weight is so simple in theory and yet one of the hardest things to accomplish and maintain. Especially maintain.

It’s pretty simple in that you just have to take in less calories then you burn. So you eat less than you do now and the best places to start reducing your intake is high sugar foods like soda, cake, candy, height fat foods like Fried Chicken or French Fries, and some carbohydrates. Keeping that in mind you don’t need to give up anything all together just eat less of it.

Also stick to simpler foods like baked or grilled meats, rice or baked potato with just a small amount of margarine or butter and lots of steamed or raw vegetables. Add very little as far as toppings or sauces. Your body only needs about 3 teaspoons of fat like that which is found in butter or margarine a day. The more ingredients a dish has the more likely it is to be high in calories.

And don’t forget your body needs calcium and the nutrition you get from fruit. Your calcium needs depend on your age. Most likely you won’t need more than 1-2 servings of fruit a day.

Find a height and weight chart and see what you should weigh or if you already have a goal then google to find out how many calories a day it takes to maintain the weight you are now vs the weight you want to be and keep your intake somewhere in between.

You want to cut back your calories gradually because if you loose weight to fast you will loose other important things you need like muscle, and you will gain weight fast if you fall off your plan. Going slow takes more perseverance but will give you longer lasting results. If you want to keep the weight off that you loose then you are going to have to live long term with the changes you make.

Exercise is important too. My experience has been that I didn’t have to sweat to get enough of a workout to loose weight but if I did my results were better. Jumping Jacks will help but you don’t have to do just that. Try a variety of exercises so your working your body all over and combine exercises that strengthen your muscles like push up’s, pull ups. leg lifts, arm curls, and try things that give you more endurance like jogging in place, swimming, or dancing. These are just a few of the many exercises you can do. Changing around helps reduce boredom. 20 -30 minutes a day is fine unless you already exercise that much. Whatever you normally when your not loosing weight has to be increased. You might also find that you can start out with 20-30 minutes a day of low intensity exercise but eventually your body will require more.

My advice might sound pretty general but it’s taken from experience. At one time I weighed 354 pounds and I got down to 157 pounds. At 5′11 I’m a tall woman. 157 pounds may sound like a lot to some but for me height it was a good weight.

Weight Loss????can Someone Help Me Pls?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: i’m really tired with weight loss.sooo tired :(( i’m always on diet.i swim,go to sauna and do aerobic.i even used weight loss pills but nothing happened.i dunno why i dont lose any weight.
can somebody give me suggestions pls?dunno what to do!
Answer: When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Weight Loss Itself or the Protein and Carbs Difference Gets the 6 Pack Abs Results?

I just love answering these weight loss questions. Here’s another:

Question: I notice that when my weight gets lowered the abs look better. However, I hear stories about carbs and proteins….it all gets too technical. Is it all about the technical(carbs and proteins) or the overall in general (weight loss) when it comes to having a great body?
Answer: 6 packs… okay your total body fat is what gives you a six pack; we all have one under the flab somewhere if your body fat is under 10% (men) or 14% (women) then it should show through. working your abs (crunches) will make them look more impressive when they do show through. Lose fat to gain a pack.

Teens: 2 Q'S About Weight Loss?

Filed under: weight loss — Tags: — Tracy @ 7:05 am

I just love answering these weight loss questions. Here’s another:

Question: Hello.

How long do you think It would take me to lose fifty pounds which Is five stone just by eating right and exercising?

And how long could I have lost by october?

any ideas…I think the thing that puts me off abit Is how long It’s going to take.
thanks (:

Answer: You shouldn’t lose any more than two pounds per week - any faster than that and it’s likely that you’ll end up gaining it back.

Fifty pounds would take around six or seven months (you probably won’t steadily lose two pounds every single week, so you have to allow time for that.) By October you could lose probably 20-30 pounds.

Anything that’s worth doing takes time and effort. There is no fast or easy way to lose weight that actually works in the long run.
