Weight Loss with Hypothyroidism?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’m a bit overweight and just discovered I have hypothyroidism. Is weight loss with hypothyroidism possible and what are some tips on how to make it happen?
Answer: Although achieving weight loss with hypothyroidism can be difficult, it’s not a hopeless cause.

Here is a list of solid weight loss tips to help you out…

#1 - Increase the number of low calorie meals you eat throughout the day.
#2 - Decrease your intake of high fat / high carb foods.
#3 - Plan out your daily meal and workout schedule. (You will be more likely to stick with it!)
#4 - Find small ways to get your heart going throughout the day.
#5 - Make sure you are getting 8 hours of quality sleep a night.
#6 - Increase your H20 intake and get rid of the juices and sodas.
#7 - Detox your body regularly.
#8 - Utilize natural supplements.

The important thing is to realize that losing weight with hypothyroidism needs to be a lifestyle change and not a short term diet. Having hypothyroidism will make the task a bit harder but definitely not impossible.

You can read more into these tips and learn about some natural hypothyroidism weight loss supplements at the website below…

What Are Some Really Good Diet Weight Loss Forums?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I know of 3fatchicks.com but are there any others that are all about all different types of diets??

thanks :)

Answer: You will need to combine a diet with a weight loss exercise plan. Before starting a weight loss exercise program, you should take on board some basic principles:

1. Have a check up with your local doctor.

The majority of people wanting to begin a good and long term weight loss exercise program will not have to visit their doctor before starting their weight loss program. But for those people who suffer from an existing medical condition like high blood pressure, you are advised to go and see your doctor before undertaking a weight loss exercise program.

2. Choose an activity that you enjoy.

You have to enjoy the type of exercise you choose for your weight loss exercise program, otherwise you will probably give up your weight loss program in a short space of time. Also remember every little bit of exercise helps.

Making small changes to your daily activities will play a huge role in your weight loss program:

- Try taking a walk around the block after you eat lunch * Take the stairs to your office rather than the elevator

- Get the bus to stop one stop from your intended destination and walk the rest of the way

- when using your car park a couple of blocks further away and walk

- if the weather is good get out in the garden and pull some weeds

3. A successful weight loss exercise program will include plenty of variety

A good weight loss program must include a variety of exercises and routines.

This can be achieved by using the weight loss routine below as an example:

- Lifting weights on Mondays and Wednesdays

- Going for a run in the park on Tuesdays and Thursdays

- Going to the pool for a swim on Fridays and Sundays

By adding variety to your weight loss exercise program you will be more motivated to stick with the program. As an added bonus you will also be working a greater range of muscles. Try to stick to your weight loss program so that it becomes a regular part of your routine. The more regular your weight loss routine the more permanent the fat loss you will achieve. You will also notice your strength and flexibility improve as part of the benefits of a regular weight loss program.

Weight Loss Help After Surgery Recovery?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I has surgery about, 8 months ago. But before my surgery, I hadn’t been able to excersise for about 7 or 8 months due to pain. After it was diagnosed and I had surgery, it was a 6 month recovery.
Well, within 16 or so months I’ve gained about, 35 pounds. And it’s not like I would just sit and eat either, but my body just didn’t react well to no excersise like I had previously done. And after so long of being in recovery and just not being able to run because of pain, and with all the stress that’s been going on, how hard would it be for me to lose all that weight and get my old body back?
Answer: Hi :)
Im also 15 and i last September i weighed 145 pounds and lost 33 pounds and i now weigh 112.
To loose weight it is very simple. Don’t listen to diets or plans or anything. Just be natural .
Ill give you my best tips :

-eat smaller and healthier portions throughout the day but more frequently (ex- eat 5 meals a day but make your meals half the size) this will speed up your metabolism and
-drink TUNS of water
-walk every day for 30 min, and also do a 30 min workout thats high impact on the body (dance, ect.)
-Pick 1 day on the weekend and 1 day in the week to take a break from your workouts
-Pick 1 day each week to indulge and not worry about your diet (make sure its only one day a week and it will not affect you at all)
-do not pick at food! Put what your gonna eat in your plate and don’t eat anything else! especially when making the food.

Hope i helped:)

How Long Should It Take to See Weight Loss Results?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I got up to 230 pounds and i’m gonna start cycling again. I bought a new spin bike and I am gonna cycle for 45 minutes for 5 days a week. How long do you think it will take to see results?
I will be eating healthy too by the way.
Answer: In the first few weeks, it may seem like you’re losing weight because the numbers on the scale are going down, but that is not fat loss. That is water weight, and you will notice that your pants may fit better etc etc.

After that, your weight plateaus and it becomes more difficult to lose fat. This can happen a few weeks in. Don’t let that discourage you, because it means you’re doing things the way you’re supposed to.

After that, you have to work harder to burn the fat. The more you weigh, the more calories you burn… so the more weight you lose, the harder you have to work in order to lose pounds. So every so often you’ll have to adjust the intensity of your workout. 7-8 weeks in you’ll start seeing results.

Also I would start off doing 20 minutes, then 25 minutes, then eventually graduating up to 45 minutes. If you add some strength training you’ll boost your potential results as well

Help With Weight Loss?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:

Question: Can you name a bunch of exercise? (I.e crunches, push ups, etc.) and how long I should do them ( I.e 5 mins a day 5x a week.. Etc) I’m only 175 but I want to be at about 140 or less.
Answer: Doing an effective whole body conditioning and weight loss workout
can be done entirely at home without any fancy equipment. A couple of
dumbbells is all you will need. (Even if you don’t have dumbbells
there is usually something lying around the house that is heavy enough
to substitute in for them).
Here is a list of 20 exercises you can do right in your own home for
a great whole body conditioning and fat loss workout.

Exercises:

Group 1:

Bodyweight Squats
Bulgarian Split Squats
Y-Squats
Prisoner Squat
Reverse Lunge
Step Ups
One Leg "Get Ups"

Group 2:

Push Ups
Push Up and Point
Mountain Climbers
Decline Push Ups
Push Ups/Stick Ups
Step Up and Press
Squat and Press

Group 3:

Plank
Side Plank
Curl and Press
One Arm Rows
Bird Dogs
One Leg Deadlifts

Pick one exercise from each group and do them all back to back for a
mini circuit of 3 exercises. Do each exercise for a timed interval of
10 seconds for a total of 30 seconds per mini circuit.
As you get better at them work up to doing each exercise for 20
seconds for a total of 60 seconds per mini circuit.
Take 30-60 seconds rest between mini circuits.
For beginners do a total of 3 mini circuits to start. Working up to 4
or 5 as you get better at them.
Once you’re ready to move to the next level add a second mini circuit
by choose 3 different exercises (one from each grouping). Do your
second mini circuit with the same time of work to rest ratio as your
fist.
If you feel you are already at an advanced level you can add one or
two more mini circuits up to a total of 4 mini circuits. These 20
exercises are just an example of what is possible, there are dozens
more that would work in this mini circuit style, you can incorporate
any exercise that you like into these mini circuits. This style of
workout is a great complete whole body conditioning and fat loss
program you can do right at home in under 45 minutes.

Will This Ruin My Weight Loss?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:

Question: Ok I been on a good diet eating healthy and
working out I usually have healthy cereal and a piece of fruit for breakfast then for lunch fruit then for dinner vegetables and fish or chicken but today was different I got up made my cereal and had my piece of fruit then I had a special familly ocasion to go to I went but the thing is the food
that was there I couldn’t resist I love my seafood and yep all they had there was seafood by the way all I drink is water anyways back to the question I overate Now I feel like I will ruin my weight loss
Answer: One mishap won’t ruin anything. Seafood is generally healthy, as long as you don’t eat it fried. As long as it was a one time thing, don’t worry about it! Sounds like you are on a great diet, and I’m sure you’ll lose the weight. Just try not to eat fatty foods often. Carbs are okay, but try to keep fat out of your diet and you should be fine. If you’re feeling extra guilty, go for a jog and I’m sure you’ll burn off the extra calories. Good luck!
