A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: I Have Heard That It's Good for Detox/weight Loss to Eat Two Tbs of Olive Oil Before Bed. Do You Agree? Why?
Answer: Rubbish.
If anything it will convert to excess fat. Only because it is excess calories.
Olive oil is a healthy unsaturated fat.
We "cleanse and detox" 24 hours a day through respiration, sweat, liver, and kidneys.
We can help by eating a healthy diet with minimal added sugar and salt. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain foods, beans, peas, and brown rice keep a system as healthy as it can be.
Minimal alcohol, caffeine, soda.
Read food labels. If you can’t pronounce it, don’t put it in your body.
Cleanses actually flush out the beneficial bacteria and enzymes in the digestive system.
There is no excess waste or toxins "sitting around" in your colon.
Most of the water we ingest is removed in the colon and returned to the kidneys for excretion. If we had "toxins" or "sludge lining the colon wall we would all be walking around like sponges right?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: My family thinks I’m too thin and don’t eat enough ( I’m 5′9 and 115lbs)
I don’t agree at all!!
But they’re threatening to send me to a doctor or nutritionist
To make matters worse, if I’m classified as anorexic or something, im going to be taken off of the heart transplant list!
How do I get them off my back?? How to hide my weight and eating habits?

I think I need a heart more than weight…

Answer: Wear baggy clothing or layers when eating the large clothing can be used to hide solid foods that can be later disposed of making the appearance of eating, wear darker face make-up; like tan ivory cover up if available, nothing drastic.

What Are Some Reasons for Unexplained Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I asked here because I could not get any answers.anywhere else.I really need any reason You can think of other then not eating.
Also this has to do with me.I am twenty.
Answer: A decrease in appetite during a bout of the flu or other relatively short-term illnesses is quite common.

It can also decrease in times of emotional upset, depression, boredom or anxiety (or comfort eating can make it go the other way :) ! )

Not many would be worried if they lost a few kg. Most would be thrilled, especially if they haven’t done anything to promote such a change!! (LOL)

But the truth is that unexplained weight loss could be a sign of something more serious such as -

Depression
Gastrointestinal diseases
If you have been experiencing digestion problems, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain these symptoms could point to:

Stomach ulcer
Inflammatory bowel disease
Chronic liver disease
Malabsorption
Diabetes Type 2
Hyperthyroidism
Cancer of the stomach, gallbladder, pancreas, liver, ovarian
Endocrine disorders

Go see your Dr - it could well be nothing to worry about but it is best to have some routine checks done !

When Weight Loss Stagnates………..?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:

Question: Back in June, the wife and I realized we were terribly out of shape. Both of us started a new diet program, and I exercise on a daily basis. I now drink a lot more water, rarely ever drink coke, and only about once a month do I enjoy a light beer. My diet consists mostly of fruits, vegetables and healthy lean meat. Since my wife has been diagnosed with a gluten allergy, we no longer have bread in the house, and I only eat it about once a week (usually wheat). I work out at the gym almost every day, where I do some light weight lifting with the machines for muscle tone, and spend about an hour on the elliptical machine. Afterwords, I go sit in the sauna for about 30 minutes, and then swim in the pool for the same amount of time.

The good news is, since June, I have lost 75 pounds and three pants sizes. But, I still need to lose about 30-35 more pounds to be in the shape I want to be at. I have only been able to lose five pounds since the beginning of the year, and have been stuck on the weight I am currently at for the past month. I am still watching my diet, and exercising regularly. What can I do to start seeing the weight come off again?

Answer: Weight loss plateaus generally mean that your body has adapted to everything you’re throwing at it. It also means your body isn’t sure about letting go of so much fat, since fat storage is a survival mechanism. Our bodies don’t know that in first-world countries, we are unlikely to starve and don’t need to store fat so carefully.

So the answer is to change something. Eat slightly more or less calories. Rearrange your meals. More importantly, address your workout regimen. Say good-bye to your friend the elliptical and take up running. Go to spin class. Take a martial arts class. Try a weight-lifting class, and go on the heavy side when they have you load up your bar. Or at least increase the weights you use in the gym. Switch to free-weights instead of machines. Free weights force your body to also use stabilizing muscles in your core to keep you upright, which burns more calories and tones you all over.

I personally have a list of things I want to be physically able to do. Every time I master one, my weight loss plateaus, and I switch to something else. Elliptical machine was an early one for me, since I was 60 lbs overweight and very inactive. Eventually, elliptical workouts (even on high resistance and high incline) became too easy. I switched to running, gradually running longer intervals. The weight melted off again. My next things are spin class and kick-boxing.

Change it up and you will see results again, I guarantee.

What Can I Eat for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner That Will Guarntee Weight Loss?

I just love answering these weight loss questions. Here’s another:

Question: I am currently 9 stone and 10 pounds and i am 5′6 tall. I do regular exercise but i cant seem to shift any weight yet i want to go back to being a size 8… any good advice is very welcome..?
Answer: u need to stay active other than diet to do weight loss

u shud do 15 mins jog daily, sit-ups, climbing stairs, lunges, crunches, leg raises, dance workout for flat tummy

You can follow following diet and fitness tips for better results: -

A good tip is turn vegetarian, have 5 time meals rather.
You can have seafood also.
breakfast of cereals, milk and egg only,
lunch u can have beans on bread, dal rice, bread with baked/ boiled vegetables

have light dinner, again u can have bread and salad with gravy, pulses

avoid chicken, beef, pork, cheese, paneer, pizzas and junk food.
Avoid rice at night

learn some recipes for healthy food. You can look for alternates like fish, crab, prawns, Soya, Mushrooms etc..

You can do activities like streching, breathing exercises, yoga, running, like standing at same place u do running motion, arobics, dance, climb stairs till 5 storeys 3-4 times a day, jogging, badminton, volleyball also keep you fit
swimming is also good exercise

You can do free exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups to stay fit

get a pair of light weight dumbells and do arm exercises

for thighs do lunges, sit-ups, stepper, multi-exercise, leg curls, leg press, jogging, climbing, climbing steps

for arms do dumbell curl, reverse dumbell curl with light weights (15-20-25 reps)

for abs do crunches, leg raises, tiwst crunches, standing twists etc.

for chest do bench press, dumbell flies, pec dec etc.

Note: I suggest light dumbells over machines. please make sure u do light weights and more reps for weight loss.
Please don’t do exercise if you have cold or some illness.
