Water: Does It Contribute to Weight Loss?

What a great weight loss question:

Question: For the past few weeks, all I’ve drank was water. No soda, no fruit drinks, etc., and I’ve noticed that I seem a bit slimmer.
Is it true that if you drink more water, you lose weight? Is it a good factor for weight loss?
:)
Answer: by drinking water instead of other drinks(that have sugar, fat, and calories), you are consuming less calories daily, contributing to weight loss, yes.

HELP :Weight Loss Plan(for Females)?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: How many days should you workout a week and how long? And when do I start increasing the time and days of my workouts?Being 5′4" female how many calories should I be taking in a day? What do you suggest be the best workout plan?…Currently I am about 175-180lbs and I want to be between 130-140lbs.

Can somebody who knows from experience or a trainer help me( fyi I have my own equiment:wii fit, treadmill, gazelle, wave, and tony little’s easy shaper.I just need to know how to use them or it)Thank you!
I want to be eating 3 meals a day instead of like the 5-6meals a day plans.I want to lose the weight by exercising and eat right. Not popping pills. So please help me begin.

Answer: When starting out exercising, work out every other day, and do something low impact like yoga, swimming, or walking. Up your exercise only when you feel your body can handle it. You don’t want to hurt yourself, so definitely listen to your body.

Use this calculator to figure out your daily calorie needs. It will tell you also how many to cut out for weight loss:

You have a WiiFiit? Awesome. You can get Just Dance, and get in some really good cardio. :)

What Do You Think of This Blog Title for Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’m starting a blog for my weight loss journey and am having trouble coming up with a name but think I have one. I just don’t know if it sound corny or not: "Count Down to Scale Down"

I plan on losing 60lbs in a year and tracking it online with my blog. What do you think of the name? Is it appealing, corny or misleading?

Thanks

Answer: I like Silver Clayton’s answer. and in response to your question, princess, I think blogging your weight loss journey is a wonderful idea. Kudos to you on embarking on a more healthy lifestyle, journey, and body. Sound body, sound mind I always say.

Start off by drinking plenty of water and taking your vitamins, minerals, and necessary supplements daily. If you are not allergic, drink plenty of milk (vitamin D and calcium). Eat oranges and drink orange juice (not that immitation sunny D stuff with all that sugar and corn syrup and junk your body doesn’t need). Eat healthy small portions throughout the day, not 3 large meals and try to avoid large meals past 7pm if you can help it. Not eating right before you sleep with help with the weightloss. And eat an apple shortly before every meal. Studies indicate eating apples does keep the doctor away, or at least keep your body’s hunger mechanism off for a while.

When you wake up, first thing in your mouth should be two glasses of cold water to boost up your metabolism and get your digestive juices flowing. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, sleep, and work to eat.

Well, dispirited princess, 60lbs may seem like a lot to lose, but I’ve lost 30lbs in a few short months by cutting out my medication regimen. The two medications I took were on a list of five provided by a Kaiser doctor as causing the most weight gain as a side effect.

Thank God I don’t have to take those medicines anymore! Screw the psychiatriac world and the pharmaceducal companies! Those dogs just want our money!

Sorry for that rant. Okay, yes, I agree "Count down to Scale down" is a good, catchy name. Good luck! You can do it! We’re all behind you!

Weight Loss Help? Please Reply.?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I’m a fourteen, fifteen in September, year old female. My height is 5′6. I’m hoping to lose about 10 or 15 pounds in a relatively short amount of time. I currently weigh 120 pounds. I usually walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill for at least 5 days a week. I only consume around 1000 calories a day, but I’m having trouble losing weight. I mostly need to lose it in my stomach area, and I would really enjoy slimming down my arms (triceps mostly). Any advice?
Answer: Sounds like you might benefit from an extra daily training session, if not more walking then perhaps a "core" focused exercise workout like Pilates or Yoga. Something will help trigger those muscles into action that are being missed in your walking sessions (There are also some great arm related exercises/positions that might help with your tricep areas)

Also, personally not sure why calorie consumption is 1000 (I would have thought 1200 what be a better fit for you). Starving your metabolism with a restricted calorie intake will send your body into survival mode, thus storing that unwanted fat not releasing it … but thats just me :P

How Do I Hide My Weight Loss from My Parents?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:

Question: I’m trying to lose a lot of weight, but last time I lost weight they told me I was way too skinny and I wanted to exercise to lose more, but they would lecture me and tell me I looked like I was way too thin and If I exercised Id be a twig..so I didn’t exercise but I gained all the weight back because of them.

I’m now 160 at 5′4 and a size 11!!! Talk about morbid obesity, UGH!
3 years ago I was only 122.

My goal is to get to 115 and a size xsmall, but was wondering.. how can I do that without my parents noticing? What are some tricks to make myself look heavier when I get down to like 145..I want to like look like I’m 145 while i am in my house so they dont say anything and I can still exercise. Let me know thanks.

Worried About Boobs Shrinking Due to Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: well im 15 and weight about 175 pounds (12.5 stone) and im in the process of losing weight i have lost 7 pounds so far, and i intend on losing about 50 pounds. im a size 36c and im worried my boobs are going to get really small, how much smaller do you think they will get? and is there any way to prevent it? plus i started puberty when i was 11 so i don’t know how much longer my boobs are going to grow
Answer: I used to be 175 lbs and over the past 2 years have made healthier eating choices and have lost 33 lbs. I am continuing on my weight loss for another 10 pounds before I stop. I have gone down one cup size, so I believe you may do the same. You have an advantage being so young, but to be on the safe side, you can keep things healthy and toned by concentrating on some upper body exercise. Good luck!

Aspiring Model- Weight Loss and Deadlines?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I am an aspiring model, I’ve got the height 5′10". I’m a little older (23) to start this pursuit but people often mistake me for 15-17. I’d like to slim down to a size 7jr (right now I’m 11jr) before I start applying to agencies (hopefully by mid-October). I’ve been drinking lots of water and for the past few days my diet has been a protein shake consisting of one egg, water, and whey protein powder (3g carbs and 26g protein) six times a day. I feel great and haven’t had any adverse effects so my question is how long will it take to reach my goal? Also, am I getting enough fat?

i have already met with photographer’s who have used me to build their portfolio and have said I should definitely pursue. I went to one agency very interested in me but they wanted to send me to paris right off and i didn’t want to skip out on my last quarter of college. I am photogenic, I am proportional, I just want to slim down so that I am even more competitive for the fashion modeling which is what I’d most like to do. So that’s why I’ve given myself until mid-october to reach that goal. I also would like to model lingerie and I think overall my frame is more suited to more slender lines. A few months ag I got a really bad kidney infection and gained 20 pounds so that’s why I have weigh to lose, I’m not at my natural weight right now. With this diet I feel much better and I am already losing the pounds- I just want to get and idea of whether or not mid-october is a reasonable timeframe to reach my goal and also whether or not it sounds like I’m getting enough fat in my diet. TY!

Answer: Virgin Coconut oil is supposed to help with weight loss and give you the ‘good fats’ that your body needs. You can add it to your shake, it’s especially good in a chocolate shake.
