I just love answering these weight loss questions. Here’s another:
Question: So im 14, female, 5′5 1/2, and about 136 lbs. I know, Im fat… but by the end of summer, I want to weigh about 122. Ive lost some weight already, at the end of april I weighed 145 or so and then i only rode a bike for 45 minutes 3 days a week. But now that Ive lost 10 lbs I still feel I need to lose a lot more and I have more time for exercise now. So Ive been following a plan of 1800 calories a day and for exercise Ive been doing a 45 minute bike ride 4 days a week, and running abut 1.5- 2 miles the other 3 days. I been doing that for about 2 weeks now… but ive only lost 1-2 lbs and i gain it back really fast. Am I eating to many calories? I have this weight loss thing on my phone where you enter in all the weight you want to lose and what exercises you do, and it says I should eat 1900 calories a day! That seems really high.. so like I said, I only eat 1600 sometimes I have more, but if I eat a little more I end up eating everything in my kitchen, haha, but should I lower my calorie in take? And also I have some questions.. is it bad to eat a peanut butter sand-which if the peanut butter is jiff? Like my mom doesn’t buy the healthy stuff and I love peanut butter so I take a slice of bread and put a banana or honey on it. And how much weight would you recommend I lose? Is 12 lbs enough? Thanks, and can you not say I should take diet pills or a paid diet program, my mom would never let me do that.
Answer: First of all I don’t think you’re fat. I weigh about 116 and I’m only 5′1 and I consider myself underweight. It’s good to exercise and you seem to be doing a good job so far.
But if you still want to loose more weight maybe you could add a group sport, like basketball or soccer and any other team sport you might be interested in that could help. As for the calories what happens is if you don’t take enough calories per day your body wont let you loose the weight as it will "think" that you’re starving yourself and it will try to retain as much fat as possible. As for the peanut butter the problem I see with it is the added sugar otherwise peanut butter is good but I would not add honey to it. The thing is, sugar and sweeteners are mostly empty calories they go right into your gut and stay there. One more thing, maybe you could consider running longer distances.
I hope this helps.
Stay healthy!
Please don’t take diet pills. You’re only 14 and you are going to grow taller so you might actually look much slimmer in a few years without actually loosing weight but just because you’ll be taller.
A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in
Question: Let’s say I eat healthy and stick to a 2000 calorie diet and burn more calories than I consumed each day. I’m losing weight, right?
now lets say i eat unhealthy food and still stick to the 2000calorie diet and still burn more than 2000 calories a day. am i still losing weight?
i don’t plan on doing this, it’s just something i’ve been wondering for a while now.
Answer: Yes however there is a problem with this. When you burn calories you can take them from fat or you can also take them from muscle. If you don’t get the right nutrition you’ll take calories more from muscle than from fat.
Since muscles burn calories then you will start to burn less than the 2000 calories a day. Proper nutrition is needed to keep the lean body mass healthy.
A weight loss question that should definitely interest you all this week
Question: I had a baby six months ago and am now in the best shape of my life. I run and dance five times a week, and do yoga, pilates, and heavy cleaning every day as well as between 30-90 minutes of stretching daily (at least half an hour before bed). I am five pounds lighter than I was at 18(when I was anorexic) and still have another 5-10 I could safely lose.
I have to eat 1500-2200 calories a day depending on how active I am that day, and that’s to lose more weight rather than just maintain. I’m literally dropping about .2-.5 pounds a day.
What I’ve noticed recently is a few things:
I’m no longer jealous in any way of other women, even ones my husband says are attractive (i usually agree with him anyway).
I have gotten much "tighter".
My mons pubis has completely shrunk.
I can bend completely in half and cross my legs behind my head.
I’m much more complementary and supporting to other women.
I’m being treated like crap by other women despite being nice to them, but I refuse to stop.
Are these all normal things to experience when you lose weight in a healthy way? This is all new to me.
Answer: I’m jealous, it sounds like your doing great.
But it does sound weird your losing 2-3 lb a day.
Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I’ve heard of the radical idea that if you burn more calories than you eat then you will lose weight.
Is that true ?!
Answer: Everything you eat has calories. If you eat more calories than your body needs and burns, then you gain weight because they are converted to fat and stored. (People seem to think eating protein = magical muscle mass. It doesn’t. Excess calories no matter what will be stored as fat in your body).
Therefore if you burn off calories you are using the energy and it won’t be stored, so you won’t gain, and if you consume and burn adequately you will use more energy than you take in.
So yes, a calorie deficit is what causes weight loss.
This week’s question is as follows:
Question: If you only drink it every once in a while? like maybe once every week or two?
I heard that diet pop actually makes you gain weight? even though there’s no calories?
can anyone educate me a little on this since I’m trying to lose weight and i want to do the right things to achieve my goal
Answer: actually no. there was an article that came out a while back that said…and i am going to paraphrase…diet drinks trick the body into thinking it needs sugar, so you end up eating other sugars to compensate. the carbonated water is also unhealthy, it tells your body there is not enough water in your system, so it holds onto it, even though your drinking a liquid. so…….throw the pop away. drink clear liquids, tea, (which actually helps in weight loss) some fruit juices. be careful though, tons of sugar in those also. water with lemon, is also a weight loss help, and if you need flavor? crystal light, or some other flavored waters. to help in loosing weight, remember the furnace. start your day with a good breakfast, eggs and wheat toast, or oatmeal, some juice or milk. do some light calisthenics and you will burn away the pounds.
What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: Im in on a boxing team & I need to get to a lower weight class by June. I have until June 10th and I’d like to lose 18 pounds ! It’s just for my team so don’t tell me I’m going to gain it all back and whatever.
So I’m eating 900 calories a day and burning 1200 calories a day. How long will it take me to lose 18 pounds?
Okay if you knew anything about boxing and the weight classes, all that matters is that i lose this weight. How tired I am does not effect my training if I eat a ton of healthy foods. Im very used to this. I’v just never tried to lose this much weight. ALL I NEED TO DO IS LOSE 18 POUNDS. everything else is irrelevant
Answer: Great luck to you!
How to lose weight fast
1. Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.
2. Start your day with a glass of water. As soon as you wake up, gulp down a glass of cool water. Itâs a wonderful way to start you day and you only need a lesser quantity of your breakfast drink after that. A glass of water lets out all your digestive juices and sort of lubricates the insides of your body. You may have your morning cup of tea but have it after a glass of water. It is good for you.

A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in
Question: It’s called Nova Chips.
It’s 140 calories per serving, 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 21g of Carbs, 3g sugar, 2g fiber, 3g protein.
Ingredients- Corn, wheat, rice flour, oat flour, cheee powder, soybean oil, butter, buttermilk, etc.
Answer: Chips are bad for you. Instead of eating chips try eating fruit or vegetables. Make yourself a nice yummy salad with lemon juice on the side and just a bit of pepper (no salt). It’s a lot healthier and if made right, it can be just as delicious.
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: I overate by 390 calories today, so I want to burn it off. My bike ride to school and back burns 175 calories, but I find that when I stay behind to do my homework, I like to stay at the Starbucks near my house to do stuff like my math homework and then go to the library across from my school to do stuff involving research. I know it seems kind of out of order but that’s how I like it. Anyways, I get in an extra 175 calories. So I figure over the next 3 days I’ll stay behind to do my homework. That racks up an extra 525 calories. So I figure I’ll use 390 to pay off today, and then the other 135 I can include in my daily calories. Will I lose the same amount of weight? I already used up my once-every-two-weeks cheat day so don’t tell me that it doesn’t matter that I overate this once. I want to burn it off.
Answer: Unless you create a deficit, no you will not lose weight. If you are filling the calorie "void" then you will only maintain your weight. One thing to simply always keep in mind: EAT to LIVE and ENERGIZE your body, DO NOT live and de-energize your body to eat.
