Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
Question:
GI = glycemic index
GL = glycemic load
Answer: First off, remember to check out my diet plan here: Tracys Weight Loss Now, on to your question…The glycemic index (GI) is a numerical system of measuring how much of a rise in circulating blood sugar a carbohydrate triggersâthe higher the number, the greater the blood sugar response. So a low GI food will cause a small rise, while a high GI food will trigger a dramatic spike. A list of carbohydrates with their glycemic values is shown below. A GI is 70 or more is high, a GI of 56 to 69 inclusive is medium, and a GI of 55 or less is low.
The glycemic load (GL) is a relatively new way to assess the impact of carbohydrate consumption that takes the glycemic index into account, but gives a fuller picture than does glycemic index alone. A GI value tells you only how rapidly a particular carbohydrate turns into sugar. It doesn't tell you how much of that carbohydrate is in a serving of a particular food. You need to know both things to understand a food's effect on blood sugar. That is where glycemic load comes in. The carbohydrate in watermelon, for example, has a high GI. But there isn't a lot of it, so watermelon's glycemic load is relatively low. A GL of 20 or more is high, a GL of 11 to 19 inclusive is medium, and a GL of 10 or less is low.
Foods that have a low GL almost always have a low GI. Foods with an intermediate or high GL range from very low to very high GI.
You need to use both for weight loss as there are many foods that contain the similar figures. I use a combo of both for reference. It can get really scary when there are so many diet rules out there but use your commonsense and you can't fail. I try to follow LOW GI/GL, Low Fat, Low sugars and depending upon time of the day LOW CARBS (after 4pm).
Hope this info helps and good luck!

Question: Ok I Have a Very Underactive Thyroid Problem and Im Not Sure if There is Any Particular Diet I Should Be On.?
Answer: First off, remember to check out my diet plan here: Tracys Weight Loss Now, on to your question…The most important thing by far is take your thyroid medicine daily. I'd also recommend staying away from or at least reducing fast burning sugars (cakes, candies, cookies, deserts, etc.) and high quantities of refined starches which have a similar effect on your body (French fries, white bread, etc.)
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: On a Diet & Going for a Chinese … What’s the Sensible Option for a Starter & Main Meal? I Have to Go!!!
Answer: First off, remember to check out my diet plan here: Tracys Weight Loss Now, on to your question…Yes, anything steamed with lots of vegetables and without sauce. Either all vegetables or veggies with chicken would be good. If they have brown rice, ask for it, otherwise go light on the white rice. (Skip the fried rice all together.)
For a starter, a clear broth soup or steamed vegetable dumplings.
