Am I Taking a Healthy Approach to My Weight Loss?

A weight loss question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: I’m 16, 5′11, 201.5lbs. In the last 5 weeks I’ve lost 15. I want to pick it up a notch before September 8 when school starts. Starting today, I ate cereal( corn flakes with a little bit of 1 percent milk. Around 11am I ate a banana. Then I ate a sandwich of whole wheat bread with turkey, no mayo. Then I ate an apple. Later as dinner I’m going to drink a blend of natural Juice ( carrots and oranges) if I’m hungry after that I’m eating another apple. About now I’m going to exercise. Then in the night I’m going to exercise again.
Answer: That sounds like an excellent approach! Just make sure you always check whats in the labels and everything! Try drinking green tea, too. Add some lemon juice to it, to help your body absorb the catchenins (they boost your metabolism, so you’ll burn more fat.) Or if you don’t like green tea, try oolong, that’s good, too. Hope this helped a bit! And remember, DON’T GIVE UP. There are going to be days where you just wanna give up and you think its useless because you will never change. But don’t lose hope. Everything will turn out for the good if you keep going.

What Would Be a Reasonable Weight Loss Goal for One Month?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: In a little over a month, I’m going on vacation to see my family. I’d like to lose a little bit of weight, but i’d really like to have a realistic goal and make sure I’m doing it the healthy way.

I’m 5 6 and I weight about 130 pounds. I would like to lose between 5 and 10 pounds. Is this goal realistic considering my height and weight?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions about how to do this!?

thanks :)

Answer: I would say anywhere between 4-6 pounds a month would be considered healthy weight loss. I would start counting calories, writing a food log and eating 200-350 calories every 3hrs, drink only water no juice, no soda, only unsweetened beverages ( I dont even suggest you eat anything with artificial sweetener). High protein foods, remember this doesnt mean eat meat exclusively, meat has a lot of saturated fats.

When I was bent on losing weight, I tried this for about two months and lost about 6-8 lbs. I also made a commitment to burn about 500 calories through cardio and do 10 min free weights, alternating body parts every other day.

For a woman of your height and weight, you are actually within the healthy weight category. To lose weight, you should calculate the total number of calories you are currently ingesting and then subtract about 300 calories in your first week and another 200 in the second. You really should calculate how many calories a person of your height and weight should consume.

FOr instance I am 5′2" weigh 130lbs and in order to maintain that weight I need to eat about 1600 calories a day. If I want to lose weight, I know I need to drop that to about 1100-1300 calories each day.

P.S. AVOID SALT, DRINK PLENTY WATER

Can Anyone Sugest an Exercise Program for Beginners to Help with Weight Loss?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: I haven’t exercised much for 5 years (used to play squash, swim and do circuit training), and have put on a surplace stone or 2 which i need to lose. I already eat healthily, wth lots of fruit and veg and very little "junk food" but the excess weight remains. I am not excessively overweight, but want to do something now before it becomes a problem
Cheers for all the advice and encouragement, I’ve got some great tips from you all. I’m going to try a bit of walking/ jogging tonight and see how I get on (no time like the present to get started!) I’m not completely unfit as i do walk a lot and cycle a little bit. Thanks again guys!
Answer: I would agree with the swimming as it use all your muscles and has the water for buoyancy, start slowly and as time goes on then build up you will find it will tone and the endorphins will make you feel great.

Other wonderful exercise is walking maybe getting off the bus at a stop before you own then walking to your office, going out on the weekends with friends or a partner walking somewhere this will help keep your bones healthy and is good cardio vascular.

What about Pilate’s I have become hooked and in a period of six weeks I can see a difference and it works wonders for your stomach!

What ever exercise you choose make sure it is one you enjoy as the worse thing is doing it and finding reasons not to continue. If the weight does not shift do not get despondent because it goes on quicker than coming off, just keep going and the results will appear.

Other thought a bike ride in good weather what a great way to move around and keep healthy.

Your eating sounds fine drink loads of water.

Just put your mind to it call it changing your life style and looking after your body for the future.

Good Luck
You can do it….
