Weight Loss Help? Please Reply.?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I’m a fourteen, fifteen in September, year old female. My height is 5′6. I’m hoping to lose about 10 or 15 pounds in a relatively short amount of time. I currently weigh 120 pounds. I usually walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill for at least 5 days a week. I only consume around 1000 calories a day, but I’m having trouble losing weight. I mostly need to lose it in my stomach area, and I would really enjoy slimming down my arms (triceps mostly). Any advice?
Answer: Sounds like you might benefit from an extra daily training session, if not more walking then perhaps a "core" focused exercise workout like Pilates or Yoga. Something will help trigger those muscles into action that are being missed in your walking sessions (There are also some great arm related exercises/positions that might help with your tricep areas)

Also, personally not sure why calorie consumption is 1000 (I would have thought 1200 what be a better fit for you). Starving your metabolism with a restricted calorie intake will send your body into survival mode, thus storing that unwanted fat not releasing it … but thats just me :P

Worried About Boobs Shrinking Due to Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: well im 15 and weight about 175 pounds (12.5 stone) and im in the process of losing weight i have lost 7 pounds so far, and i intend on losing about 50 pounds. im a size 36c and im worried my boobs are going to get really small, how much smaller do you think they will get? and is there any way to prevent it? plus i started puberty when i was 11 so i don’t know how much longer my boobs are going to grow
Answer: I used to be 175 lbs and over the past 2 years have made healthier eating choices and have lost 33 lbs. I am continuing on my weight loss for another 10 pounds before I stop. I have gone down one cup size, so I believe you may do the same. You have an advantage being so young, but to be on the safe side, you can keep things healthy and toned by concentrating on some upper body exercise. Good luck!

Which is Better for Weight Loss Tony Little's Gazelle or a Stationary Bike?

Keep the weight loss questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: Need to get back in shape and i am confused about which one of these 2 are better for losing weight and burning fat.
Answer: Seeing Tony’s ads I myself would stick to the bicycle ergometers **real name for spinners or exercise bikes. They have a better resistance assembly. Still, anyone could benefit from that type of fast bout exercise. I’ve used spinners and recumbents and like the recumbents the best. Just do it while watching tv and weight loss is easy. Good luck. Have fun.

Can Anyone Recommend a Free Online Diet Site to Maximize Weight Loss and Minimize Hunger?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I am looking to lose 70 lbs without being hungry or binge eating. I am doing this on my own and I do not want some 20 year old who weighs 90lbs telling me about how to lose weight. ( no offense).

I am serious about losing weight and being healthy, and I want to do this correctly without pills, or shakes. Any ideas???

Answer: How to Lose Weight quickly naturally:
1. With Drinking Water
For those of you are confused by how to lose weight, rather than looking for ways that are difficult and confusing, why not try a simple way to lose weight by drinking at least 2 liters of water per day. Because water helps the metabolic processes in the body to convert food into energy needed. Here, white water also serves as fuel to drive metabolic reactions of the body. So if you do not drink water, then you can not burn calories.
2. Sports
Sports it has become common knowledge as the most reliable ways to lose weight. And maybe this way need not be discussed again because so many have written about this.
3. Food
From some research on foods that can help you lose weight, the experts have to say that there are certain foods proven to be a useful food fatherly lose weight. That food is grapes, Sardine Fish, Fruit Pumpkin, Beef eaters consume meat from grass And the last was Green Tea.
4. Do not Consume Alcohol
One way to reduce unwanted calories consumed is to reduce alcohol drinking. Some desire to drink alcohol because of the perception generated by alcohol in the form of taste and relaxation effect. But that is not widely known is that drinking can also be caused by thirst and hunger. Maintaining order not to thirst and not go to bars or restaurants when hungry can press your alcohol intake.
5. Familiarizes Breakfast
Breakfast is often mistrusted as a way to lose weight, but found no useful breakfast to lose weight. If you have breakfast in the morning, you can reduce your consumption of lunch. enough bananas, yogurt, cereal, bread and other snacks for containing plenty of fiber and protein will give you a sense of satiety until it was time for lunch.

A weight loss question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: Your man (you trust him) determines what you wear. At home he has you naked or very little clothes or in a too small Hooter’s outfit…. In public you face the threat of being told to wear clothes that are too tight..too short… OK you feel uncomfortable with this humiliation of being told what to wear and you do not feel comfortable being naked/exposed at home therefore you start losing weight.
Answer: That just sounds like kinky fun, not like a weight loss plan. Tough to do at my house with the kids around though.

1200 Cal Diet! No Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: Yesterday I ate around 1200 calories and burned 400. The day before I ate around 750 calories. And even though I am eating very little, I am not losing weight? Is it because I eat too little that I am not losing any weight? If I eat around 1400 tomorrow, will I lose weight? I am 16 and female by the way.
Answer: Mindy’s diet, just so you know, is about 1000 calories for the whole day.

One important question is what is your BMI now? If you are already thin enough that you just need to drop the ‘last ten vanity pounds’, the way to do it (apparently) is to eat your resting burn worth of calories and exercise over the top of that in order to trick your body to let go of those pounds- and even then there’s a lag time before your body will let them go and it’s extremely difficult.
Also, you may be surprised at how many calories you actually burn in a day, or don’t. Especially if you are short or petite in build. My wife gains weight on anything more than about 1200 calories a day because her resting burn is just not very high.

*edit:
Also, just wanted to chime in and say that I agree with Bashful Bondage Bunny. Varying your calorie intake- and especially having a cheat day where you go ‘over’ (although you don’t necessarily have to have junk food, you can also go with niceties that your body isn’t used to, such as frozen yogurt, deli cheese, etc) seems to be extremely helpful to the process.

My Weight Loss Journey Has Gone Too Far?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: im 23 and since last year i have lost 83lbs by just eating healthy well for the last few months i have been stuck at 218 so to jump start it i have been making myself throwup and its working but i know this is not good and i thought.i could stop any advice
btw i have tried laxatives enamas i lose a pound here and there i feel like im failing at losing weight all i can think about is i have to lose more weight thats all i can think about how can i lose the weight ugh! i suck!
Answer: Dearest Janey,
I am so glad you know it is not good. Can you stop? It is not at all uncommon for compulsive overeaters to switch to bulimia and/or anorexia to control their addiction to food. I remember a woman who lost185 lbs and then got so obsessed with losing that she became anorexic, only eating bite size pieces of candy 3 or 4 times a day. She died at 85 lbs. Conversely many anorexics become compulsive overeaters. I read an article about such women who became plus size models. The problem is that the disease isn’t obesity, the disease isn’t anorexia or bulimia or compulsive overeating or binge eating disorder. The real disease here is addiction. And most good girls (lots of food addicts try very hard to be "good girls") can’t reconcile with the image of themselves as no different from a heroin junkie. It is known now that sugar and chocolate and flour that quickly turns to glucose in our mouths (put a saltine in your mouth and let it melt…sweet?) all effect the dopamine receptors and the serotonin neurotransmitters in he brain. It is too complex for me to keep in my head and explain as I am not a neurologist. But it is these same pleasure centers that are lit up on PET scans when narcotics are used! Food addiction kills (I just got word today that my friend died from this disease) not just because of the physical side effects of all the permutations of his disease but from the horrid emotional pain that it causes. I have personally known 3 ppl with food addiction issues who have committed suicide. I am a sufferer of food addiction myself and have attempted suicide because of it. I am happy to say that today I am in recovery and grateful to have learned that this is a real disease, brain disorder, mental illness; and I am not a bad person with a weak will. Most food addicts have strong wills and that is our real problem. We have to learn to surrender our wills to a power greater than ourselves. It is a long process and some of us need more than just www.foodaddictsanonymous.org or www.oa.org (overeaters anonymous) or www.ceahow.org (compulsive eaters anonymous) or www.eatingdisordersanonymous.org for help. Some 85% of food addicts (anorexic, bulimic, coe) have been sexually and otherwise physically abused. And abstaining from compulsive eating behaviors and addictive foods can bring up memories that we tried to bury with the food. Sometimes the pain is so bad that more help is needed than just the meetings, tools and step work. That is when it is time to call in a professional for help. Sometimes it is necessary to get professional help just to be introduced to the meetings. That is how it was for me. I went to treatment for bulimia in 1984 and went to my first 12 step meeting there. There are very few places that treat food addiction as an addiction instead of a psychological only problem. www.milestonesinrecovery.com, www.shadesofhope.com and www.tpoftampa.com (Turning Point) are the only ones that I know of www.placeofhope.com is another place (The Center for Counseling and Health Resources) that treats eating disorders as a spiritual, emotional and physical problem but I am unclear about their understanding of the disease/addiction concept. I live near them and personally know several of the staff and clientele. www.foodaddiction.com is a business that brings recovery intensives to your city for much less $$ than going to a treatment center.

Janey,I pray you will get the support and help you need. If you can stop, do it now before you can’t. If you can’t stop, don’t wait to check out these websites and call and talk to someone. You were brave to break your isolation this much (addiction, esp. food, is a disease of shame, secrecy and isolation) now break it a little more and call one of the toll free numbers listed on those websites. You can also write me thru my profile on yahoo answers. And you can always call a pastor or prayer group at a church for support too. If you don’t know Jesus yet, call 1-800-NEEDHIM. If any of the problems, issues or thoughts that I have mentioned fit you, please find help now.

I am praying for you, Joy
