Weight Loss During Pregnancy?

A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: Before i found out i was pregnant i had an eating disorder for 3 years and also smoked.

I got better and got into a habit of keeping my food down and i quit smoking as soon as i found out i was pregnant. Im overjoyed because i had been trying to quit and get better for so long and struggled but knowing im responsible for another life helped me.

Anyway, its been 5 weeks and ive gained a bit of weight. Im very self concious but dont want to hurt my baby.
Is it okay for me to diet healthily to lose a few pounds or atleast not gain any more?

I’m 18 years old. I’m 5"6 and weigh 185 pounds.
I weighed about 140 pounds 8 weeks ago.
I dont want to be overweight.. I want to be able to see my baby belly and i want to be fit and healthy when my baby gets here.

I know you gain weight during pregnancy, I can gain the actual weight of the baby, I’d just like to lose some fat. I won’t have time to do it once baby is born.

Any advice is appreciated. <3

Answer: You are already gaining too much weight. 45 lbs in 8 weeks is a lot. It is more than what a woman should gain during the whole pregnancy.

Given your history, ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist. Ask the nutritionist for an eating plan that is healthy and will meet the baby’s gestational needs. Considering you gained so much weight so quickly, the doctor is also going to want to monitor you for gestational diabetes.

Right now, I would just concentrate on eating as healthy as you can–the nutritionist will help you with that- and doing low impact exercises such as walking and water aerobics. Do NOT start an exercise routine such as running or anything high impact if you were not exercising prior to the pregnancy.

Congratulations on your baby.

Weight Loss Later in Pregnancy?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:

Question: I’m 33 wks and at my 31 wk Dr appointment i weighed 155. At my last appointment I weighed 152…. How is it that I’ve lost 3 lbs ? Is it normal to lose weight around this time? Thanx for reading…
Answer: The doc won’t be concerned with a few pounds. And if he/she was they’d let you know. At this far along the baby is pretty big, so alot of woman don’t eat as much because their stomach fill’s up faster.

I’d say if you show a weight loss again at your next appt, then mention to your doctor your concerned. But don’t worry for now. It’s normal.

A weight loss question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: I had my 3rd little one about 6 weeks ago, and I really want to lose weight. I’ve already lost 27 of the 30 lbs I put on throughout the pregnancy, but I’m really anxious to get started on losing the weight that I never lost after after having my 1st child. I will definitely wait until my 8 week check with my doctor before I start an exercise regimen, but I want it to go quickly. Any suggestions or advice? Or perhaps you dont mind tell which site provides a wide range variaties of diet solution? Thanks
Answer: Hi,

Frustrated with Trying to Lose Weight on Your Own?

Losing weight quickly and safely is never an easy process. But sometimes it feels like a hopeless struggle that you’ll never achieve. And trying to do it on your own without any help can be even more frustrating.

Thankfully there are several programs from weight loss experts that can get you on the right track. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to figure out which of these programs to choose.

Because of this we have reviewed some of the most popular weight loss programs and rated them. We found that some of these programs can be a big help in achieving your weight loss goals. But it’s important to remember that none of these programs are magic. All of them require hard work and dedication on your part.

But if you are willing to give the effort then you will certainly see the results!

An effective and easy-to-follow plan that gives you more options with your food choices than most diets without sacrificing results. Our top choice.

Weight Loss and Pregnancy?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’m overweight and was in the process of losing weight (in a healthy manner!) when I discovered I was pregnant.

What is the likelihood that, assuming I continue to eat healthy, balanced meals and exercise, that I may lose weight still during this pregnancy? I really do not want to undo all my hard work because of this, but I don’t want to hurt this baby, either.

Did anyone here lose weight while pregnant, and if so what did you do and not do? And how much weight did you gain and lose during this time? My BMI is 28.

Answer: A lot of women who are overweight and become pregnant do lose weight in the beginning of their pregnancies. Simply from the diet/exercise you mentioned. As long as you are eating enough calories to support a healthy pregnancy and your Doctor is monitoring your weight there isn’t a real problem with losing a bit of weight in the beginning and only putting on the recommended amount of weight (15-25 lbs for women who start out overweight).
Ask you Doctor.
I lost 6 lbs in my 1st trimester, not purposely, and promptly gained it back. I was 15 lbs from my ‘goal’ weight when I became pregnant, and decided to not worry about it until after the baby is born.
Good Luck.

What is the Healthiest and Easier Way to Loss Weight?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: i really want to get my body back in shape. i feel its so hard because im a type of person who is always thinking about food…im a skinny chick with a tummy. and i did have a baby but i didn’t gain any weight. but after your pregnancy you want to eat all the time is that normal? how could i get sexy back?
Answer: Maybe you’ll be interested in these methods:
The first called EODD,it’ s about calorie cycling. It’s broken down into “burn days” and “feed days”. During the burn days, you eat only 30-50% of your maintenance caloric intake. During the feed days, you consume up to 150% of your maintenance caloric intake. You are allowed to eat the foods that you like on these days as long as the portions are controlled.
So you can still eat your favorite food and still maintain your ideal weight.
The second one is about burning fat with breathing exercise. It based on heat, fuel and oxygen for burning process. The oxygen we breathe in metabolizes with body fat to form adenosine triphosphate (ATP), our primary source of energy.
Basically, the more oxygen we take in, the more fat we burn.

They’re relatively easy, and together will accelerate the fat loss
