Does This Sound Good for Weight Loss, Female Teen?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: For breakfast I had a serving size of whole grain cereal with skim milk. For a snack I had a cup of fresh blueberries. After that I had a slice of whole wheat bread toasted with light margarine. I went on 1.5 hr hike then had a protein shake with skim milk and a banana. For Dinner I’m having a chicken burrito on a whole grain tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, chicken, black beans and a little cheese. Does that sound good if I’m trying to lose weight? Thanks(: oh and I’m doing yoga for an hour tonight.
Answer: That seems like a healthy plan. It may be a little healthier though if you eat a tad bit more for lunch. Just remember to eat AT LEAST 1200-1300 calories a day otherwise you may become malnourished. You seem to excersise quite a bit so that will also be great! (:

Protein Shake for Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: basically, i dont eat much protein. only a lot of carbs, fat etc. so tomorrow i’m thinking about getting protein powder, and having that and fruit + veggies to lose weight. will it work? let me knoww guys x
Answer: Is there a reason you can’t get protein from food sources (fish, chicken, lean meat, eggs, yogurt)?? That’s the best way to get it in. You’re looking to get 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. As long as you eat 500 calories below maintenance and exercise regularly, you should lose a healthy amount of weight each week. Drink LOTS of water! This website is amazing! www.bodyspace.com it has loads of nutrition/fitness articles/motivation. GOOD LUCK!!!

Aspiring Model- Weight Loss and Deadlines?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I am an aspiring model, I’ve got the height 5′10". I’m a little older (23) to start this pursuit but people often mistake me for 15-17. I’d like to slim down to a size 7jr (right now I’m 11jr) before I start applying to agencies (hopefully by mid-October). I’ve been drinking lots of water and for the past few days my diet has been a protein shake consisting of one egg, water, and whey protein powder (3g carbs and 26g protein) six times a day. I feel great and haven’t had any adverse effects so my question is how long will it take to reach my goal? Also, am I getting enough fat?

i have already met with photographer’s who have used me to build their portfolio and have said I should definitely pursue. I went to one agency very interested in me but they wanted to send me to paris right off and i didn’t want to skip out on my last quarter of college. I am photogenic, I am proportional, I just want to slim down so that I am even more competitive for the fashion modeling which is what I’d most like to do. So that’s why I’ve given myself until mid-october to reach that goal. I also would like to model lingerie and I think overall my frame is more suited to more slender lines. A few months ag I got a really bad kidney infection and gained 20 pounds so that’s why I have weigh to lose, I’m not at my natural weight right now. With this diet I feel much better and I am already losing the pounds- I just want to get and idea of whether or not mid-october is a reasonable timeframe to reach my goal and also whether or not it sounds like I’m getting enough fat in my diet. TY!

Answer: Virgin Coconut oil is supposed to help with weight loss and give you the ‘good fats’ that your body needs. You can add it to your shake, it’s especially good in a chocolate shake.

Weight Loss in a Few Short Weeks?

A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: hi i want to lose weight withing a few short weeks. if anyone could give me a good workout routine or a good yet healthy protein shake! or any thing else that would help me lose weight especially belly fat. im not overweight i just want to lose about 10 pounds! any answers would be great thnx! :)
Answer: you should eat at least 3-4 healthy meals a day.

drink a lot of water, it flushes you out. also, if you think you’re hungry even right after you’ve just eaten, it is because you’re thirsty.

eat regularly. don’t starve yourself, because once you start eating again, you’ll gain everything back, trust me.

eat lots of fruits and veggies.if you want to eat bread, make sure it’s whole grain. white bread is pretty fattening.

if you’re not a vegetarian, you can also eat lean meats, like fish, turkey and chicken breast. to know how much meat you should eat in a day, make your hand into a fist. the size of the back of your hand is how much meat you should eat in a day. eggs are also a good food when trying to lose weight.

skip out on sweets, candy, sugary foods, chips, fried foods, ice cream, cake, and cookies. if you want something sweet, like for dessert, try berries, raisins or another type of dried fruit. if that doesn’t quench your sweet tooth, try Weight Watchers or Smart Ones desserts.

if you feel hungry, but don’t want to over eat, chew gum. it’ll keep your mouth busy until it’s time to eat again.

cut out ALL soda! if you stop drinking soda, it helps you out A LOT!

also, it’s very important to keep a food journal. you write down what you eat that day, and see how much you’re REALLY eating. and if you go out of line, you can catch it before you make the same mistake the next day.

and don’t forget to exercise! try walking, jogging, jump rope, dancing, hula hooping, crunches and/or sit-ups, bike riding and swimming. try exercising for 30 minutes a day, and as the weeks go by, build up your time by about 10 minutes each week.
good luck!

Review My Diet for Weight Loss and Muscle Gain?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: 7am pre workout oatmeal with protein and peanut butter
10am post workout protein shake with water ,fruit
12 am half a sandwich
3pm other half
5pm meal replacement shake
7pm protein shake with milk
also i forgot i workout 6 days a week
Answer: This is way below the number of calories you need to increase your metabolism, you will only lose muscle mass on this diet not fat.

Eat 5-7 small meals a day, it’s better to get your protein from lean meats instead of solely from shakes. I would have 1 shake a day and eat more chicke, tuna, almonds, and turkey.

You want about 1g of protein per lb of lean muscle mass that you have.

I’m a beachbody fitness coach from the guys that make P90X, whatever you do don’t listen to the first post!
Also make sure the bread is whole wheat. Cut out sugar and drink plenty of water.

Don’t eat a lot of carbs and make sure the ones you do are complex carbs.

Carbs have nothing to do with growing muscle it just controls the energy that you have, but bad carbs will make you gain fat.

I was on a low carb diet for 6 months and gained more muscle and lost more fat than I ever have.
