Protein Shake for Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: basically, i dont eat much protein. only a lot of carbs, fat etc. so tomorrow i’m thinking about getting protein powder, and having that and fruit + veggies to lose weight. will it work? let me knoww guys x
Answer: Is there a reason you can’t get protein from food sources (fish, chicken, lean meat, eggs, yogurt)?? That’s the best way to get it in. You’re looking to get 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. As long as you eat 500 calories below maintenance and exercise regularly, you should lose a healthy amount of weight each week. Drink LOTS of water! This website is amazing! www.bodyspace.com it has loads of nutrition/fitness articles/motivation. GOOD LUCK!!!

Increase Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Hey guys. So I’m 5′1 and 1/2…22 and about 170 pounds. I’ve lost about 30 pounds since January. When June came around, I got to around 175 and since then I’ve only lost 5 more pounds doing exactly the same thing. Any tips on how to get around the plateau? I have, however, gone from a 35% bmi to a 31%. I don’t know if this really means anything though. Does anyone have any advice? Aside from veggies and fruits, what really is okay to eat? How much should I be eating and how often? Thank you very much in advance - I’ll give points to the best answer!
Answer: Hi, Rachel.

This is going to be a long answer, because I’m going to give you as much help as I can. I went through something similar very recently, and I almost went crazy with the plateau. My best advice: don’t give up.

Going from a 35 BMI to 31 is great! You still have a ways to go, but you’ve made huge progress! BMI is one useful way to check your weight health, but I would also measure various parts of your body about once a month - sometimes you shrink even when you don’t lose weight.

I’m 23 and actually just dropped from an almost 35 BMI to about 31. Recently I hit a pretty long plateau that wasn’t budging. I stay the exact same weight. I was eating very healthy, exercising every day, and still I didn’t lose weight.

Then I changed one thing and I started dropping weight in less than 2 days. It was weird but great.

I’ve changed my diet to include mostly veggies, some fruits, baked poultry or fish, and some whole grains. I don’t eat much bread or dairy at all. I do have whole grain pasta and brown rice, though. I eat 5 smaller meals a day (pretty much whenever I’m hungry) and about 1,200 - 1,400 calories a day. I eat treats once in a while, or a treat meal on special occasions.

My diet was what I wrote above, and I walked about 3.5 mph for an hour every day. Stopped losing weight at one point. Then I changed my exercise routine to light sprint intervals and a little weight lifting and a bit of stretching. After one day of that I started losing weight again.

My routine is:

Warm up by walking 3-3.5 mph for 10 minutes, then run at 6-8 mph for 30 seconds to 3 minutes, then slow to about a 3-3.5 mph walk for 4-5 minutes, and repeat however much you want. I usually repeat about 3 times, and I vary the lengths of the running as I go. It is a little harder than walking was, but it works.
Then I do weights for my arms - whatever I feel like doing. Three or four sets at most. The same for legs. Then I stretch and loosen up for a few minutes. Takes less than an hour to do all that. I do it 6-7 times a week.

Hope this helped.

You’re going awesome, by the way. Keep going! I will too.

Weight Loss Fast? Will This Work?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: ok so if i eat 1200 calories a day (ex. complex carbs, protein, veggies) and exercise 5 days a week (ex. 20 min pilates 2x a day and an hour of walking) will i be able to lose 12 pounds in 3 weeks? ordo i need to exercise more during the day? i really want to tone up and look good in a bathing suit by june 27. im 5′5 a girl and weigh 146 pounds.
Answer: Yes.
Make sure you drink enough water, since you will be putting a strain on your system, especially in Summer, (at least eight 8oz glasses, but 10 would be better).

Also try to balance out those 1200 calories to include a snack or two, and try to have the most calorie meal for lunch, not dinner.

MOST importantly, don’t get too obsessed with it, if you don’t lose the full 12 pounds. 10 will still be a major accomplishment, and 2 pounds won’t make that big a difference in how good you will look.

Best of success to you!

What Do You Think is the Best Method for Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I have my own theory, but I want to see what else is floating around.
My theory is that most women in the u.s. are starving themselves on bad calories, so their bodies force them to eat. I think the best method is for breakfast slow cooked oatmeal (Make it ahead of time) with nuts for breakfast, then a small lunch with veggies and stuff and then a dinner at like five thirty healthy of course. You don't need to starve urself and u don't have to give up carbs or anything.
Answer: First off, remember to check out my diet plan here: Tracys Weight Loss Now, on to your question…Plenty of exercise, serene mind and good and healthy food. You can take some Hoodia Gordonii to help you with food cravings. Add fresh air and water, leafy green vegetables, lots of fish and stay off carbs for a while. They also say you should make love a lot, so if you have the primary source, use it (LOL)
