Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
I just love answering these weight loss questions. Here’s another:
We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of weight loss. Let’s take a look:
Ok, the key to weightloss is 3 main areas, exercise, nutrition and water. I’ll cover them all in a bit of detail for you.
Firstly, i’ll explain what weightloss is, and how it occurs. Basically, weightloss occurs when you expend, or burn off, more calories than you take it. You burn them off by doing things such as exercise, and take them in by eating. So if you burn off more than you take in you’ll be in whats called a caloric defecit, and that is how to lose fat. Ideally, you want to be consuming a number of calories, that is equal too your body weight in lbs, multiplied by 15
Now, the first part of fatloss is exercise. There are two kinda of exercise, cardio (running and such) and weighlifting, both are effective at decreasing fat, but if you do them both your fat loss will be exponentially greater. Firstly, you want to aim to do cardio 4 times a week, for around 30 minutes at a time. This will increase your metabolism, as well as burn calories while doing it. So not only do you burn calories while your exercising, but for hours after too, the same goes for weightlifting. Aim to weightlift 2-4 times a week, depending on how busy you are. There are many differnt exercises you can do, but for a plan that suits you, i’d head on over to www.bodybuilding.com for a great program.
Next is nutrition, and this is the reason most people fail at weight loss. You need to be eating around 4 or 5 small meals a day, and eat meal must contain a good source of protein, carbs and healthy fats. Good protein sources are lean meats, like chicken and turkey breast, legumes like beans, and tofu. Carbohydrates come in two forms. Starchy and fiborous. Starchy carbs are things like sweet potatoes, brown rice and wholemeal bread, and fiborous are things like your green vegies. All these are great for you. Stay away from any refined or processed carbs like white rice, white bread, candy and sugar. Thirdly, healthy fats. These are things such as olive oil, nut oils and avacado. Fats are a big part of weightloss, so dont avoid them completly, just the bad ones, and take in a small amount of healthy ones with your meal.
Lastly, hydration. Drink plenty of water! Enough said
This took a very long time to type out, so i hope you appreciate it! Any questions, fire me an email off my profile. Thanks, Josh.
This week’s question is as follows:
Okay well theres only 5 things you can do:
1) Exercise.. Keep Busy..Exercise and push yourself the minute you wake up till you go to bed.. The hardest part is waking up early and no naps but once your up your up(you need to structure a good time pattern…take a shower then run errands immediately start doing some cardio and put everything else aside for a minute.
2) Eat.. Don’t even try to follow a diet because your obviously not going to love it everyday..plus you could have eaten something else if it wasn’t for that stuff you regretted. Fight hunger and find another thing to occupy yourself… you can survive and you should only be happier when you defeat it. When you do need to eat just use your food groups: DAIRY PROTIEN CARBS VEGGIES FRUITS & FAT. Moderation is key to them all but only eat them as a serving size. for example: Im hungry and i am going to make dinner.. i will BBQ Chicken (PROTIEN) with a Marinade Sauce (FAT) with a serving of Whole Wheat Brown Rice (CARB), and chopped up a half of a Green Bell Pepper(VEGGIE) , and minced a small amount of Onion ( VEGGIE), and a small amount of chopped up tomatoe (VEGGIE), Garlic (Veggie) and Ground Pepper(CONDIMENT) with a side of a small non fat Vanilla Yogurt (Dairy) topped with Bananas (Fruit)
3) Hobbies…Join a hobbie! Anything that takes your mind off something.. The Gym? Yoga? Board Games? Plant? Go to a movie? Ride a Bike? Take a Walk? Go Shopping? Find a new job? Clean? Laundry? Sports? AA? Fitness Groups? Church? Find Good Songs? Plan a Tomorrows Agenda Schedue? Explore Local Attractions/Events/Meetups? The Library? Go Swimming? I can go on..but try not to take so much advantage of the computer!! (i know, i know…)
4) Be Confident…Love yourself and accept any flaws because the ones that do look ridiculous. If you can or need a TAN/HAIRCUT/THREADING/FACIAL/WAX/NAILS/SKIN/EYEBROWS/MANICURE/PEDICURE and can do it..it can not hurt. Also do some feel good stretches.
anyway you dont need the 3 or 6 meals a day once your full..your full..but make it healthy and add all your food groups at you wont feel deprived. It’s a learning process
5) Regrets.
***anyway..
I hope you have fun at your Quinceanera…i am sure that you already look beautiful so just shine
Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Things to avoid;
- Soda.
- Chips/Sugary or fried snacks.
- Sweetened fruit juice.
- Full fat dairy items.
- Foods with high sodium, high sugar, high saturated or transfat.
Other tips:
- Drink a lot of water, at minimum 6 cups.
- Walk instead of taking the car/bus.
- Do leg lifts during commercial breaks.
- Go on a hike with friends.
- Make it fun, take it slow, do it the right way. Avoid crash diets, pills, or any other gimics. You’ll just gain the weight back in the long run.
What’s this week’s weight loss question? Let’s dive straight in…
This week’s question is as follows:
Push-ups, Sit-ups, and light Weight Lifting is a good start for toning. Do 3 sets of each exercise throughout the day. If you dont have a dumbbell or anything, Push-ups will make up for it.
Make an eating plan similar to: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner. Eat healthy things with Protein. Peanut Butter, Skinless Chicken, Whole Weat Bread, Tuna (any type of Fish for that matter) or even a Salad. If you are on the run and in a hurry, a quick stop by Subway for a (healthy!) Sandwich is an excellent choice. I even go to Subway all the damn time! Space your snacks and meals accordingly throughout the day as well. 2-3 hours apart is normal.
When is prom? Because I would suggest that you start an exercise routine right this very minute. I would expect, if you follow your eating, and exercising routine, around 2 weeks to a month to see results in your body. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to see results.
Good luck with everything.

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
On topic, by my age I’m really overweight and I’ve decided to lose some weight I have a running track in my house, I’ve been exercising, and lifting weight. I’m wondering if any of you know how to increase the weight loss, drink only water, no beverages, not to eat any junk food and so on.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.
And what about drinking coffee with sugar?
