im a female btw and football isnt a thing id be into but thanks i will keep it in mind :)
Answer: Hey Lisa,

It isn’t as easy as it sounds, I know. The best thing you can do is exercise. Now, you may think "Okay, I’ll throw on some sneakers and go for a jog." That won’t do it. And in fact, you probably aren’t willing to start your fitness journey by displaying it in front of the world, right? If you’re like me, you want to get fit where no one can see you struggle. That’s why I do in-home fitness DVDs. Not like the creepy Richard Simmons kind of videos, though… In fact, if you really want to get fit by January- the BEST advice I can tell you is to order P90X. It’s a 90 day total body transformation that is used by celebrities like Bruno Mars, Bret Favre, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Pink, and Michelle Obama. Some people lose over 100lbs in just 90 days. And even better, it specially focuses on turning fat into muscle! I would recommend nothing but this. In fact, here, this link will take you straight to information about this: https://extranet.securefreedom.com/MillionDollarBody/csShopping/ShoppingCart_Detail.asp?PriceID=93429&Cat=Fitness%20Program|P90X

Heck, if you are really into this home fitness things, there are a lot of programs you can look into. Go here: www.beachbodycoach.com/bransonp

Also! Look up my fitness page on facebook. It’s called "Time to Transform with Coach Paalyn." I update it with fitness tips, motivation, and advice as often as I can. And I ALWAYS respond to questions and inquiries. I hope this helps you out. Please feel free to message me on facebook or whatnot if you have any questions I can answer!

Does Drinking Green Tea Help Weight Loss?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: how many times a day do you drink it
Average how much do you lose with a balanced diet
Answer: Green tea’s weight loss effects have been causing more and more people to start sipping the ancient Japanese brew. But, just how does green tea help you lose weight? And does it really work or is it all just hype? This article gives you the real facts about drinking green tea to lose weight.

Experts vary, but the general consensus seems to be that 3 – 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. Doing this can help you burn an extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. Pretty good for not exercising or cutting calories, right?

Advantages of Drinking Green Tea for Weight Loss:

1) Green tea revs up your metabolism

A study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a metabolism ‘boost’).

The researchers also concluded that that over a 24-hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate by 4%. These effects are probably due to the high concentrations of catechin polyphenols found in green tea. These work to help intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the rate at which your body burns calories).

2) Green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps glucose regulation

Experts tell us that the catechins in green tea help to inhibit the movement of glucose into fat cells. Green tea may also act as al glucose regulator. It helps to slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

3) Green tea may help reduce appetite

Scientists at the University of Chicago found that green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. Rats injected with a green tea extract lost their appetites and consumed up to 60 percent less food after seven days of daily injections. This may have something to do with the blood sugar regulating effects of green tea.

4) Green tea can help you save calories on your morning brew.

We are a nation hooked on our java. Be it the regular double-cream, double-sugar standard or that mocha, dappa, frappucinno, the calories we ingest just to get our morning caffeine is wreaking havoc on our waistlines.

If you want to save mega-calories in the morning but still get your caffeine fix, try substituting green tea for coffee. Or have a green tea in the afternoon instead of that 700 calorie mocha-chillate dream. You’ll definitely notice the difference in your waistline after a few weeks.

So there are 4 ways that green tea can help you with weight loss… But, how much do you actually have to drink to get these amazing metabolism boosting effects?

However, 3 – 5 cups can be a lot for some people, so you might also want to consider green tea extract, green tea pills or a green tea patch.

Disadvantages of Drinking Green Tea For Weight Loss:

1. Green tea is not a magic bullet

While some people will tell you that green tea is the be-all-end-all for weight loss success, I think the keyword here is balance. You’re not going to eat 5000 calories a day, drink a cup of green tea and make it all go away – it just isn’t going to happen. A healthy diet and increased exercise will go a long way in helping you lose weight and keep it off.

2. Be cautious of the caffeine if you have health problems

For some people that have heart troubles, high blood pressure or stimulant sensitivities, the caffeine in green tea may not be the best idea. If you’re worried about the caffeine from green tea, try taking green tea extract. Most green tea extract is made from decaffeinated green tea so you can still get the weight loss benefits without the caffeine.

If you think the caffeine may be a problem, make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea for weight loss. Also make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Bottom Line: Green tea helps you with weight loss by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning.

While it’s not the magic bullet, it can definitely give you a boost in weight loss and in your overall health!

If I Take HCG Drops for Weight Loss, Will I Test Positive on Pregnancy Tests?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Also, will it make me skip my periods, and does it have adverse side effects with birth control?
Answer: It will have no effect on your birth controll pill or make you test positive on pregnancy tests. You have less than a 1 in 10MILLION chance of having just one molecule of HCG in your 2oz bottle.

Save your money. Plain and simple, the HCG diet program is a SCAM. It’s a 30X homeopathic product. That 30X means there is one part of HCG in 1 x 10^30 parts of water. Yes, that’s a 1 with 30 zeros after it. Some products are as dilute as 60X, a 1 with 60 zeros after it.

You lose weight because of an anorexic diet, you’re limited to 500 calories a day. THAT’S how you lose the weight, not by taking drops of water mixed into a glass of water or under your tongue.

Just so you know 10^30 drops of water equate to over 16 TRILLION cubic miles of water. In all those cubic miles of water, there would be just 1 drop of HCG.

Need Clarification on Calories and Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: To maintain my current weight I would need to eat 2400 calories per day.

To lose the amount of weight I want to lose over the next year, I would need to have a calorie deficit of 910 calories per day.

So if I change my diet down to 1500 calories (-900 calories) does that mean I only need to exercise to burn and additional 10 calories per day to get to my target weight?

Something just doesn’t seem right. Do I need to reduce my intake by 900 calories AND burn an additional 900 calories per day? I’ve confused myself. :)

Note: Spammers will be reported.
1500 calorie diet was recommended by my doctor. I just need help figuring out how much exercise I will need to do in addition to the diet change.

Answer: You seem to be on the right track. If your total daily burn (including BMR and all activity) is 2400 and your total daily intake is 2400 (maintenance level) and you cut your intake by 900 calories per day, you’ll be burning 900 calories per day more than you’re consuming and you will have a 900 calorie per day deficit. That will result in a 1.8 pound per week loss or a 94 pound loss in a year (in theory). Of course as you lose fat your weight will decrease and so will your BMR so to meet your deadline goal of 94 pounds in a year, you’ll have to maintain your deficit by cutting back on your intake.

If you eat your BMR you won’t have to worry about calculating your energy output or your daily burn which makes daily tracking easier. Of course you may not lose as fast as you want to but then fast is the worst way to lose fat. The slower the better because losing slow prevents rebound.

Here’s how to lose fat.

• Go here —> http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html and calculate your BMR.
• Limit your daily caloric intake to your BMR.
• Make sure you eat only wholesome, varied, nutritious, high quality foods in 4-6 small meals per day. (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
• Keep your macronutrient ratio at 55/20/25 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively) by tracking your intake.
• Track your intake here —> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ (or Live Strong, Sparks People, etc)

Here’s my tracking as an example –> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/clickmaster

If you eat your BMR in calories and no more each day, you will have enough food to properly nourish your body and all of your activity will burn fat. That means, the more you walk or run or workout, the more fat you’ll burn. Also, by eating your BMR and tracking your macros, the numbers will force you into good food choices because bad food choices will leave you very hungry at the end of the day. In other words, it forces good behavior.

Note: Here are the details in case you’re interested. —> http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2010.asp and here —> http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/nutrition.html

You get to make the food choices (no supplements without a doctor’s recommendation) based on culture, available foods, personal preferences, your resources, food allergies, etc. However, the words "varied", "wholesome", and "high quality" are important. And, you should consume your food in 4-6 daily meals with healthy snacks between such that you’re nourishing yourself every two hours when awake.

Good luck and good health!!

Unintentional Weight Loss?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’m 16 and I haven’t been dieting.
I’m usually a 28 inch waist but my jeans are so baggy I tried on a 26 inch waist and now they are also too big now.
My boyfriends mum pointed out that I look like I’ve lost weight and I’ve also gone down a bra size. I weighed myself and I’ve lost 7lbs. (I’m normally 132lbs, now 125lbs and I’m 5′11)
Is this normal to lose this much weight for no reason all of a sudden?
Should I go to the doctors?
Any suggestions on why I’ve lost weight?
Answer: i would suggest going to a doctor. eat more, and you could be sick. don’t be too worried though, cause that can cause weight loss too.

Is Reduced-Fat Mayo Going to Affect Weight Loss?

A tough weight loss question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: I’ve been on a very strict diet the whole summer. And now school is starting so I’m going to eat a little more, while still eating healthy. I was wondering if Kraft Mayo with Olive Oil(reduced fat) is a good choice(will not cause weight gain) for a turkey sandwich? thanks
Extra Question: Are the carbs in Triscuit Reduced-Fat Crackers good or bad?
Thanks
Answer: Mayonnaise is made from fat. If you’re on a reduced fat diet you can’t have mayonnaise… (at least not without nasty chemicals and processing to make "reduced fat" mayo - dodgy stuff). You’re better off with something like fresh herbs or ripe tomatoes or some seasoning (like salt and pepper) to give the sandwich flavour.

Just Dance for Weight Loss?

Another weight loss question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I’ve decided to change my lifestyle. I’m eating healthier and I go on walks almost everyday. And I use just dance and just dance 2 for about 30-60 minutes each day. But ive heard that it isn’t a real workout. If it isn’t why do I drip sweat afterward? Lol. So any success stories with dancing games? Like with Just Dance or DDR. I’ve just started eating healthier and exercising last week. I can’t really tell I I’ve lost any weight because being on my monthly makes me gain about 10-20 lbs water weight.
Answer: Uh, I’ve never gained 10 lbs of water weight. That’s odd.

DDR is great for cardio (and fun!). But if you want to lose inches, in addition to eating clean (which you did, good job!), you’d have to incorporate resistance work, such as pushups, pull ups, squats, deadlifts, and planks.
